IA Classification

According to the IA classification, implementation is strategically critical, and well-designed exploratory, clinical, or epidemiologic studies must back it.

IB Classification

Experimental, diagnostic, or observational studies and a powerful conceptual rationale are highly recommended for execution, according to the IB classification.

Category II

Suggestions for implementation backed up by clinical and epidemiologic evidence, or a theoretical rationale must be provided when implementing infection control.
