1.3.1 Autonomy

Respect for autonomy is the ethical duty of healthcare providers to respect their patients’ autonomy. 

This means that healthcare providers must respect their patients’ decisions and not force them to do something against their will. They must also respect the privacy of their patients and keep their medical information confidential.
