1.3.2 Beneficence and Non-maleficence

Beneficence is healthcare providers’ ethical duty to act in their patient’s best interests. Healthcare providers must do what is best for their patients and provide them with the best possible care.

They must also strive to do no harm and take all necessary steps to ensure the safety of their patients, while non-maleficence is the ethical duty of healthcare providers not to harm.
