1.7.3 Making Decisions for Minors

The first and foremost duty of the healthcare provider is to do everything they can in favor of the well-being of their patients.

The ability of minor patients to convey their preferences and comprehend what is occurring should be assessed by doctors to see whether they can understand the risks and advantages of the proposed treatment. The more mature a young patient is, the better.

It is, however, mandatory to seek minor patients’ approval for treatment as they cannot consent.
