Video and audio recordings can potentially violate patient privacy and interfere with patient care. So, they must be created, used, and/or disclosed in compliance with state and federal law.

Before recording a patient for reasons other than diagnosis, treatment, or patient identification, such as performance improvement, training, or other company’s internal activities, the Joint Commission mandates that consent be acquired.
