6.11.1 Alcohol
Alcohol is used in the form of ethanol, isopropanol, and n-propanol as a disinfectant and antiseptic. It can kill many types of viruses and mycobacteria.
It is used to disinfect hard surfaces or equipment, for disinfecting the skin before an injection, and as a base for antiseptics like iodine and chlorhexidine.
